Come behind the scenes at Starship's new Heart Clinic
Tamariki who are cared for at Starship's Paediatric & Congenital Cardiac Service (PCCS), also known as the Heart Clinic, now have a beautiful whānau-friendly space to visit for their appointments.
This is all thanks to our Five Star Partner Barfoot & Thompson, who made a full refresh possible – the clinic’s first in 20 years!
The Heart Clinic is New Zealand's national centre for assessing and treating children with cardiac illnesses and adults with congenital heart diseases. With some appointments taking up to four hours, it's important for the clinic to be a welcoming and comfortable space for the thousands of patients who visit from across Aotearoa New Zealand each year - the youngest being newborns with cardiac illnesses.
From the accessible reception to the renovated clinic rooms and children's play area, everything in the new-look clinic has been designed to provide the best possible experience for tamariki, whānau and staff.
"It's so wonderful to have this refreshed space, which will enhance the wellbeing of every child, family and staff member who comes through the clinic doors. We're incredibly grateful to Barfoot & Thompson for their support which made this a reality,” says PCSS Service Clinical Director Dr Tim Hornung.
